Marge Bailey
Marge Bailey came into the
world in the age of dinosaurs. She was breast-fed
by a Tyranesaurus (OK - I can't spell!!)
and her Nanny was a Mammoth. She received
her musical training at the Greek University
of Theda Beta Alpha Phi and Ice Cream, graduating
in 45,000 B.C.
She was married at 20 to a local cave man
who drew pictures for a living. In addition,
he was able to fly and he and Marge traveled
through the air to many places beyond Cave
town. They lived a high style life in the
best cave in the valley and Marge sang to
him when he came home wounded and bloody.
She bore him three children - the oldest
a girl who became a Neanderthal Lawyer (which
is an oxymoron) and the second, a boy who
was a civil engineer designing new cave
developments. Finally, a second girl was
born who followed in her father's footsteps
as a cave decorator and her mother's footsteps
as a singer. Together, they travel the world
bringing their kind of music called barbershop
to friend and foe. Marge was drawn to the
mountainous area known as Denver. There
she met many friends and singers, working
to help them develop their singing skills
and helping them learn about "fire
in the belly".
Presently she is retired in her cave on
the high plains watching the horses in the
back 40 and singing songs about "Love
Eyes", "Yes Sir, That's My Baby",
"Runnin' Wild, Lost My Shoe" and
many other old favorites.
Marge recently traveled by Mammoth to a
valley known as Las Vegas where animals
roam night and day feeding coins to wicked
beasts who devour all your money. There
her friends competed with other cave women
for high honors in singing. Marge sat in
the "cave pit", ate a delicacy
call "M&M's" and chiseled
scores for the singing cave women on gold
tablets.
After contest Marge reports that she partied
all night with her friends roasting ox over
a spit and celebrating late into the night.
During her 32 years as a
member of Sweet Adelines International,
Lynnell Diamond has been involved in nearly
every aspect of the barbershop art form.
She started her barbershop career singing
baritone in her chorus, and quickly became
a dedicated quartet performer as well. After
learning the ins and outs of the barbershop
style, Lynnell began arranging and eventually
composing for barbershop singers. Nineteen
of her published compositions and many more
arrangements are being performed by Sweet
Adelines and other barbershoppers worldwide.
Lynnell has also been a front-line chorus
director and frequently coaches choruses
and quartets in the barbershop style. She
has taught composition and arranging, basic
vocal production skills, expressive singing,
music selection and interpretation, visual
effectiveness, and understanding the judging
process, all within the framework of the
barbershop style. Lynnell has also served
on the International Board of Directors
of Sweet Adelines International, and in
several capacities in her local chorus.
She currently co-directs Red RockAppella
prospective chorus in Region 21, and sings
baritone with Sedona Swing quartet.
